As a happy freelancer for 4 years working and living in Paris, I felt like I was missing something. Whilst I was happy with my lifestyle, I felt like I was missing travelling and working with other people. It’s all too easy in this day and age to keep in contact with others over the internet, but I was missing sharing and discovering face to face.

It was back in August 2017 that I gave back the keys to my rented flat to go and live remotely in South America. There I met many other digital nomads (definition here) like myself. As I was sharing and travelling with other freelancers, I realized that it would be great to interact with and create events with other digital nomads.
This is when the concept of Nomad Nation was born. A few months later, I created a website that gave the possibility to any digital nomad to organize a three week event in a place they live. The organizer is responsible to find the apartment and the co-working space. The organizer gets 25% of the total amount to organize the 3 week event (week-end, excursions, dinner, presentations etc.) and Nomad Nation will get a 5% cut.
The website is just starting and I am creating the first digital nomad event in Bogota (more info here – https://nomad-nation.com/packages/bogota-colombia/). After travelling for a year in America Latina, I have found that Bogota has a special place in my heart. I fell in love with the city and I want to stay for a lot longer than the 7 months that I have already spent here. From the 6 of June 2019 to the 27 of June 2019, 20 digital nomads are expected to attend to work and discover the city together. I feel like this is an interesting concept, and I feel there is a real need for get togethers like this to really make the lifestyle of a digital nomad the best that it can be.
Create Your Own Event…
If you like the idea of this venture, then get involved and try and start an event in a city or country that you have fallen in love with. The more people that get to know the concept of Nomad Nation, the better. The success of the first event is reliant on getting the word out there. So, what are you waiting for – come me meet in Bogota!
