- Method 1. Transfer Photos to New iPhone with Airdrop
- Method 2. Transfer Photos to New iPhone with iCloud
- Method 3. Transfer Photos to New iPhone with MediaTrans
- Method 4. Transfer Photos to New iPhone with iTunes
Method 1. Transfer Photos and Videos from iPhone to iPhone using Airdrop
AirDrop is an ad-hoc service that Apple developed for iOS and macOS operating systems to quickly and easily transfer files like photos, videos and more between iPhones, iPads, and Macs. It runs on WiFi and Bluetooth and only works with iDevices running iOS 7 or later, or Mac computers running OS X Yosemite. In other words, you can use AirDrop on an iPhone 5 or newer, a fourth-generation iPad or newer, or a fifth-generation iPod touch. Now, let’s see how to copy photos to new iPhone from your old iPhone 5/6/7/8/10/11/12.
Step 1. Launch Control Center on both your iPhones. For iPhone 8 or later users: Swipe up from the bottom of the screen. For other iPhone users: Swipe down from the top-right corner of the screen with Face ID.
Step 2. Press and hold on the wireless control box on the upper left side of Control Center.
Step 3. You will see AirDrop option and tap on it. Then, choose who can send things to you through AirDrop by tapping Receiving Off, Contacts Only, or Everyone. I suggest Everyone.

Step 4. Now, go to the Photos app on your iPhone and select the photos you want to move to your new iPhone.
Step 5. After selecting, just tap on the Share button at the lower left corner on your iPhone Screen.
Step 6. Tap your new iPhone to be the receiver when it appears in the AirDrop row and it will start transferring the selected photos to your new iPhone.

Note: If you have a large number of photos need to be transferred, then this way may not be a wise choice
Method 2. Transfer Photos and Videos from One iPhone to Another using iCloud
iCloud can be one of the easiest way to transfer files like photos between iPhones. This method requires a strong and stable Internet connection. By using iCloud to copy photos, you have to make sure that the two iDevices are logging in with the same Apple ID. Now, let’s check how to transfer photos from iPhone to iPhone using iCloud:
Step 1. On your old iPhone, go to Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Photos. Tog on the iCloud Photos option.
Step 2. Select either Optimize iPhone Storage or Download and Keep Originals. Then, your iPhone will start uploading photos to iCloud.

Step 3. Once the process finished, open you new iPhone and enable iCloud Photos.
Step 4. Open the Photos app on your new iPhone, choose All Photos and you will see all iCloud Photos uploaded from your old iPhone.
Method 3. Transfer Photos from iPhone to iPhone Using WinX MediaTrans
WinX MediaTrans is a professional iPhone photos transfer software. This way can be the quickest and simplest way I have tried to transfer photos to from iPhone to another. It helps easily transfer all or selected old iPhone photos to new iPhone in just 1 simple click. Most importantly, MediaTrans enables to export HEIC photos as JPEG. I also like to use MediaTrans to copy photos from my iPhone to my Windows 10. Here are the simple steps to transfer photos to new iPhone with MediaTrans:
Step 1. Download WinX MediaTrans on your computer, then launch it and connect your old iPhone with PC via a USB cable.
Step 2. Click Photo Transfer button, then select all or specific photos in your old iPhone and tap “Export” button to back up the selected photos to your computer.

Step 3. Disconnect the old iPhone and connect your new iPhone to PC again.
Step 4. Hit Photo Transfer on the main UI again, then click Add Photo icon to import selected photo folders from computer. Click on the Sync button to transfer old iPhone photos to your new iPhone.
Method 4. Transfer Photos from iPhone to iPhone with iTunes
iTunes is the last way I suggest to copy photos between iPhones, as it a little bit complicated. In addition, this method has many limitations:
- If you have turned on iCloud Photos, then this way is not available.
- You can only transfer the photos in your iPhone’s Camera Roll (not iCloud Photos, photos synced from computer, shared photos)
- Syncing photos from iTunes will overwrite the current photo library on your iPhone. In other words, you may lose some of your photos that have not been backed up.
Below are the steps about how to transfer photos from iPhone to iPhone with iTunes:
Step 1. Plug your old iPhone into your computer and launch iTunes. Then select your iPhone in iTunes and click Summary in the left pane.
Step 2. Click on This Computer under Backups in the right pane, and click Back Up Now.

Step 3. Turn on your new iPhone, and the iOS Setup Assistant will give you the option to Restore from iTunes Backup, just choose it.
Step 4. Plug your new iPhone into the same computer, and open iTunes again. Then select your new iPhone in iTunes and click Summary in the left pane,
Step 5. Click on the Restore iPhone button in the right pane, then choose Agree. Once the process completes, all your photos will be on your new iPhone.
