Cool Movies to Watch Out for in 2022

Some of these movies may be on your radar already, but if you’re looking for something really cool to watch, we have few great picks for you.

The Northmen

Every once in a while, we get a really great Viking movie, and The Northman could just be this decade’s Viking movie to beat, says the NewYorker. Director Robert Eggers, who is so good at creating moody, serious films like The Lighthouse and The Witch, has crafted a Viking epic that makes good use of a powerful and fierce Alexander Skarsgaard as a Viking on a mission of revenge.

It’s a brutal story told on an epic scale, but there are plenty of heart wrenching moments and tender touches to give this story real humanity to contrast with all the bloodiness. History buffs will love the attention to detail, and anyone looking for great battle set pieces won’t be disappointed here, as Northland continues the fine tradition of historical battle epics like Braveheart, King Arthur, and Last of the Mohicans.

Everything Everywhere All at Once

Do you like the multiverse spanning hijinks of Spiderman into the Spiderverse or Spiderman: No Way Home? If so, then there’s another multiverse jumping movie headed your way in 2022, says TheAtlantic. Everything Everywhere All at Once stars Michelle Yeoh as a laundromat owner who gets caught up in an adventure to save not just her universe but billions of additional alternate universes. Part kung fu extravaganza, part sci-fi comedy, this movie has a little bit of everything.

The directors haven’t just made a movie packed with crazy action and ridiculous laughs every few seconds. There is also a touching story here about dealing with depression and despair as well as the craziness of today’s technological society where everyone lives their own separate lives in a digital world. This experimental film tries to do so many things within its runtime that it just feels like it’s bursting with ideas and can hardly contain all of them. Check out the action yourself in theaters now or when the movie hits streaming platforms later on.

Ninjai: The Little Ninja

One more cool movie you’ll want to check into this year is called Ninjai: The Little Ninja.

It’s something of an indie animation movie that might get overlooked amid all the big releases this year, which is why we wanted to spotlight it. You’ve probably seen movies before about someone searching for their lost identity, but perhaps not one starring a small child with latent ninja skills and epic battle scenes. On top of all of that, Ninjai offers incredible visuals with a peerless art direction that will have you wanting to see more of the colorful and exciting world this movie explores.

We’re pumped about seeing a movie that is full of silly creatures and a colorful cast of characters for kids to enjoy while adults can take in the artistic vision and powerfully choreographed fight scenes. Ninjai has a little something for everybody, and it’s not one you’ll want to let slip under your radar this year.
